Stains and spots in carpets are nothing new. Anyone who owns carpeting here in Tucson can reveal many stories about the stains that they've discovered, the ones from spills, pets, even the stains that appear out of thin air.

This after purchasing carpet pre treated with anti stain applications or a treatment has been done on your current carpeting? Rest assured that while these treatments can and do hold off a large amount of stains in your carpeting, nothing is foolproof and a little knowledge can go a long way in keeping your carpets looking their best, especially in between professional carpet cleanings.

While there are many cleaning supplies available at stores all around the Tucson area, making it possible to remove them yourself, you can also count on applying a little "elbow grease" into the mix.

Did you know that cleaning spills of alcoholic beverages, cola, ketchup and eggs are the same? Well, they are! All you need to remove them in a quarter teaspoon of your liquid dishwashing soap and about a cup of warm water. Mix them together and then simply wipe at the stained area(s) with the solution you've created and then use some more warm water to remove the stain. Due the concentrated levels of the detergent you may have to rinse a few times in order to remove any soap build up or residue.

There are also kits you can get for spot removal from your Tucson carpet cleaning company as well as carpet sales stores.

Make sure to have a professional spot cleaner for stains with ice cream and milk. You will also want to use the same solution described above to help in sanitization. If you still are troubled by this spot, try a cup of white vinegar and two cups of warm water.

If one of your children has a mishap with a banana or foods that have this same constancy you will want to use your store bought cleaning to remove the soiling in your carpeting and then rinse the area with warm water.

For lipstick and other make up spots or stains you will first want to blot the area with a small amount of nail polish remover. You must rinse this area thoroughly before any bleaching takes place. After that, use your store bought carpet cleaning solution, and follow with another complete rinsing of the area. If these don't work you can use the vinegar solution described above.

Anytime you use any carpet cleaning solution you must rinse the spot that has been cleaned as these have chemicals in them that can be hazardous to your and your loved ones. Even soap residue can cause nausea and diarrhea in children and adults alike.

Remember to always test your cleaning methods on an area of carpet that is not in plain site. This will ensure that you are not going to bleach out or fade the colors/dye and that your carpeting can withstand this type of cleaning.

For any stains and spots, such as pet accidents you will want to consult with a local Tucson carpet cleaning company as these can settle into your padding and the odors can remain for the duration of the life of your carpets.
